We are looking for a talented Javascript Developer to work on the implementation of the frontend of our transaction monitoring platform.


ComplyAdvantage is a venture-backed startup using artificial intelligence to fight terrorism and financial crime. Every day we look to tackle highly interesting and challenging problems that can help people better live their lives free from fraud, corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing. We have developed modern, web based applications that allow our growing list of international clients to detect, and ultimately prevent, illegal money transfers. We reduce crime and criminal activity through the creative use of technology & design and disrupt the compliance industry while doing so.


  • You will be responsible for implementing front-end logic that defines the behavior of the visual elements of the web application. This consist on implementing a well-structured and reusable series of components (JS, HTML, CSS) to facilitate the development of a uniform and easily expandable web application.
  • You will build the data handling and application interaction with the services that reside on the back-end (API).
  • You will working with UX and UI designers, lead engineers, business analysts and product managers to determine functional and nonfunctional requirements of the web application.

What does success look like In your first 12 months?

  • You have gained a good understanding of the business domain and how the project relates to it.
  • You habitually analyse the application context and task at hand, as opposed to diving right into it. You are comfortable with the majority of the complexity across the project, and relish the opportunity to extend your skills and approach harder problems.
  • You write clean, elegant and maintainable production-level quality code that, following reviews, only requires minor changes.
  • You have become aware of the underlying application architecture. You're able to infer missing details and edge cases in design specs and make decisions about them: how to implement, whether to escalate or not.
  • You have become proficient with the tools and technologies used in the project. Their strengths and weaknesses are becoming apparent, and you're in a position to help senior team members with presenting alternatives and implementing improvements. You've started to take context into account when reasoning about 'best practices'.
  • You are able to provide technical assistance to junior team members, and are currently mentoring one of them.

REQUIREMENTS

We value those who take initiative and pride in their work and contribute to an informal working environment. You will be confident in your ability to deliver on the points covered above, taking into account the following:

  • Strong experience working with JavaScript including knowledge of one or more JS frameworks
  • A sound understanding of JS application structure best practices
  • Understanding of primitive types, composite and basic abstract data types (queue, stack, dictionary, etc.), and basic linear data structures (array, linked list, matrix, etc.)
  • Understanding of basic sequence algorithms (linear search) and sorting
  • Good understanding of HTTP, asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, AJAX and JSON
  • Most likely a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or other related field
