Ideal candidate
Academic and/or bachelor’s degree in the area of computer science, computer engineering, or business informatics; or significant similar professional experience;
- Experience in a DevOps or build engineering role, including several years of experience with Windows and VMware in an administrative position, and global operational experience within a medium to a large organization;
- Proficiency and proven experience in the following technologies:
- Microsoft MSCA: Windows Server – required
- Microsoft MCSE: Core Infrastructure – is highly preferred
- Detailed knowledge on VMware ESXi, vCenter, vRealize, vMotion, vSAN
- VMWARE Certified Professional – is preferred
- Good scripting knowledge such as PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, Ansible & Rest API
- Knowledge of installation and support of enablers / frameworks such as Apache, and. net
- Microsoft SQL Server administration, data migration and high availability
- Strong technical infrastructure knowledge including L2/L3 networking protocols
- Experience with cloud platforms, Azure and AWS
- Experience with IT security is preferred
Knowledge of legacy and current Windows technologies – preferred
- Outstanding analytical skills;
- Fluent spoken and written English;
- Willingness to work in an Agile team but also be self-directed with high engagement;
- Excellent social skills and ability to work effectively with global stakeholders and remote colleagues via Skype and other virtual collaboration technologies;
- Ability to work flexible hours to support other time zones when required;
Responsibilities
Drive DevOps efficiency at the company level by designing and deploying Infrastructure as a new, centrally managed service with federated instances in locations worldwide. The main focus will be to eradicate the Windows Server 2008 (or earlier) instances, both physical and virtual, and support the infrastructure refresh for hosted applications.
- Ensure that the architecture meets user, certification, and IT service requirements;
- Analyze and understand the business solutions and their complexity and support application owners with upgrades, migrations or transitions;
- Identify structural changes needed in the architecture and help define migration and upgrade strategies and relevant roadmaps to implement, minimizing impact to the business and operations;
- Liaise with product and service owners, regional infrastructure leads and architects to assure overall fit & integration for the services we manage;
- Coordinate activities with the business, other internal IT organizations and third-party suppliers;
- Research and drive technological improvements in a cost-effective way that can be shown to have positive impact on the businesses we support;
- Oversee infrastructure upgrades, modifications and deployments;
- Conduct risk assessment and develop mitigation plans;
